Edged by a glistening stretch of the Missouri River, Sioux City historically played a pivotal role in Westward expansion with associated sights that today, along with river cruises and local hiking trails, draw in a steady stream of travelers.
The River Trail starts at 7th Street and parallels the Roaring Fork River until it joins with the Rio Grande Trail at 23rd Street. This newly completed section of the Rio Grande Trail goes to the CMC turn-off of Highway 82. From there, the trail connects with CR 154 to keep cyclists and pedestrians off of the Highway 82 shoulder, until it reconnects at the Carbondale Park & Ride. From there, the trail continues all the way into Aspen. Expect completion of the entire Rio Grande Trail in 2008.
